Grimlock's cab is actually tooled differently in the Japanese version compared to the US version, having a bigger front window. The smaller window version is carried over to the WalMart version but I can't confirm though if it's tbe same as the Universe Scavenger version. The line art of the RiD instructions though depict the larger window version for some odd reason. I wonder why Hasbro chose to retool this part?

That change is carried over onto Universe Scavenger, yes. The line art in the US instructions is copied directly from the Japanese ones, that was the norm. And my guess is to avoid breakage: the top tip of the claw bumps on that spot in the window.

I'd say you're exactly correct about the anomalous "2" numerical, since store computer listings of the time revealed that the Super redecos of the Brothers were indeed originally named "Side Burn 2", X-Brawn 2", etc. The Spychanger toy wad released before them, which probably would have been back when they still had those "2" names internally, until things changed when the Deluxes saw release some months later, leaving the Spychanger's numerical an awkward holdover.Emerje wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I've been theorizing about something from the RID 2001 toyline lately.
I don't think you're too off on that, they also scale better with Ruination.
As for Prowl "2" I think that has to do with him being the only one in his Super Mode colors. I'm thinking they intended to do two versions of everyone and the repaints of Sideburn and X-Brawn would have also had "2" designations, but for whatever reason we didn't get a regular Prowl making the "2" standout.

He's mistransformed. The super mode torso goes inside the shoulder pads and arm gauntlets, not on top of them.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:

That explains so much, thanks!
