No die-cast and the toy is much smaller.
Still freaking awesome though.

Wallet & shelf space friendly, just what I can manage right now for one offs (don't have to care about scale).

In that same mentality, the SS86 Commander Optimus is a great alternative to MP-44.

What you say make sense if I don't collect CHUG and MP as separate lines.
I don't see CHUG/SS & MP as interchangeable alternatives. They have their own scales (more or less, with varying degrees of success, mind you) but Missing-Link doesn't (it's going for the OG toy size. So far.) and it's a "one off" collectable line that TT is picking and choosing to release what they consider make sense, like the never released G1 prototype Arcee. This Legacy G1 OP is also a "one off" in the CHUG mainline. It's an OP in a DELUXE price & size, and I don't see Hasbro will release other figures that scale with this OP except tank Megatron, MAYBE. The likely purpose of it being a cheaper alternative and/or a compliment to ML OP, all to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
For me, whether it's ML or Legacy G1 OP, they belong to the crossovers/impulse Buys/oddities shelf or my "misc/outdated" shelf (where my Hybrid Style, Deluxe WFC, T30, MP-01 etc. OPs now sit). I can also see some people might put the ML with the reissues. Now, I really wouldn't bother with Legacy G1 if I already have ML (unless I'm scared of paint chipping on the diecast parts), but since I don't have ML, Legacy G1 scratches enough of the itch for me and I would rather not spend the money on ML (not saying ML is not worth every dollar it's asking for) and save it for something else. That's my "mentality" if you want to put it.

DHL is even less reliable than the USPS. It's insane. Normally if Hasbro ships from their warehouse in Romeoville IL to my place it takes two days via USPS and UPS. DHL takes 7-10 days, if I'm lucky.

What's weird is domestic DHL is slow and unreliable, but international DHL can get a package from Japan to my door in three days. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Since Animated Wildrider was a retool of Lockdown, and we just got Star Raider Lockdown, how's Star Raider Lockdown, and how well do you think the mold can be retooled into Animated Wildrider?

Its kind of crazy that they use Fedex, UPS/USPS and DHL.
I'm lucky with the Romeoville, IL location. I'm in the south Chicago suburbs and usually get mine Fedex next day from there. Also my town is weird for Fedex since the closest distribution center is in Munster, IN meaning everything I get from them croses the state border twice just to go from the a southwest Chicago suburb to a south Chicago suburb.

Well, seeing as how Star Raider Lockdown is just a straight redeco of the Junkion Axlegrease with no new tooling besides a new head based more on ROTF Lockdown than Animated Lockdown, I'd say it'd be like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and result in a figure that's as visually faithful to the design of Animated Wildrider as all the Legacy figures that were based on TF: Prime characters (as in, not very accurate at all).Ig89ninja wrote:So, with Animated Motormaster all but on shelves, a thought occurred to me when thinking about the rest of the Animated Stunticon Team.

Exactly! Shockwave, Grimlock and Straxus were all sent by regular mail and they were here 3 days after they left Romeoville. My previous experiences with DHL are more negative than positive, so I'm not expecting Xaaron and Flame until next week. fortunately the hurricane was nowhere near as bad as projected.
On an unrelated subject, what are the chances that the new Leader Soundwave will have the same yellowing issues as the Netflix Soundwave? I'm on the fence about getting the new one, and Amazon just sent me the warning that it will ship on Monday or Tuesday. But if the quality isn't fixed...
