I know the yolo ones are a little bigger but they are more or less the same size and style.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Yolopark are essentially budget friendly Three Zero figures in close to SS, very accurate detail too.
Blokees are very stylized and chibified movie characters and G1/IDW Characters in a very small, almost Core class/Action Master scale and style.
They also don’t assemble in nearly the same way, Yolopark is just “put a few pieces together” while Blokees are more akin to a PlaMo kit with runners.
The price points and collector draw are also very different, Yolopark’s figures are anywhere from $15-60 ish, while Blokees range from like $7-15 in (mostly) blind boxes

The more apt comparison is between Blokees vs. Yolopark AMK Mini, not with the AMK line.

I’m not saying they don’t look great, they do.. just calling them model kits doesn’t sit right with me.

People speculate that's due to a kind of licensing rights limitation. Seems to me traditional Gundam style HG-size model kits are locked up by Flame Toys for G1 characters. Smaller movie ones were licensed to Trumpeteer for BBM. Chibi/SD scale to Blokees. So maybe options were given to Flametoys/Trumpeteer before Yolopark? It's not like Yolopark can't do proper model kits, I have its PMK BBM OP and it was like PG Gundam 2.0 level of amazing.
So in the end, whatever licensing Yolopark got for the AMK lines, it's probably just a financial decision for them, thinking calling these BAF "Action Model Kits" is the best way to go for mass appeal.
I personally love them, I have as much Gundam as Transformers, while I miss the building from the ground up process, I also love that I don't have to spray paint the kits (the part of the process I hate/avoid the most, even worse than sanding) and I just concentrate on panel lining, detailing and weathering. And they are many, many times more fun to pose and can take a hunch more abuse than Gundam kits.

I have all 8 on preorder, and will be pretty happy if they can fit nicely into the SS shelf
