Remember the G1 Arcee toy that didn't end up getting made? Well Takara remembers and they are currently working on finally making it a reality. Takara Tomy’s TF40 Expo is on right now and the new reveals they ahve for us are in the Missing Link line. They displayed a prototype for Missing Link Sunstreaker along with a model for Missing Link Arcee. While the prototype for Sunstreaker does transform, the one on display for Arcee does not, it is something they are still working on.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Transformers, Takara has released a video animated by Studio Trigger, directed by Amemiya Akira. The video uses the 2007 song “Mayday” by Bump of Chicken, who have several themed Transformers redecos, including one we see in this video. The video goes through all eras of Transformers, from G1 to Earthspark and includes loads pf crossovers like Beast Wars Megatron holding G1 Megatron’s gun mode in his mouth. You'll let us know which imagery you like best.
As we showed yesterday, the marketing for Transformers One is firing on all cylinders. Below you will see:
- a clip from the film featuring the scene on the train as the four main bots reach the surface.
- a TV spot featuring the fight between Optimus and Megatron and some really high praise
- a general ad for the film showcasing the upcoming Studio Series figures for the film and pro football players like Calvin Johnson/Megatron.
- a quick featurette showing the voice acting, which can be seen here on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_vhg9JOjB6/
Are all you Transformers fans caught up on Blokees yet? Not necessarily in collecting them, but at least being aware of the growing number of releases. They are a fun and inexpensive licensed series of models that work well as figures. The second Shining Version series is out in Asia now, and can be ordered on sites like Ali Express. If you are curious about it, we have reviews for all the characters below. These are called "Shining version" due to their LED lights which will light up their eyes (and chest for certain characters). The characters in this wave are:
Substorm
G1 toy Optimus Prime
Beachcomber
Sideswipe
Soundwave
Grimlock
Bad news for collectors who collect boxed toys. We now have images of the Ramhorn/Bommbshell G1 retro pack and it is very different from the previous two Walmart exclusive G1 retro Insecticon offerings. As with Soundwave and Blaster, this goes for the G1 box aesthetic, so it will be at odds with those. It is a cool box though, as it has both the Decepticon and Autobot colours due to there being both an Autobot and Decepticon in the set. And both happen to be rhinoceros themed, with Bombshell turning into a rhinoceros beetle. Since this is still part of the retro line, Bombshell is meant to be toon accurate with a grey chest, as he sported in the cartoon when he's in robot mode.
One more detail about the packaging though, it does look like there is no plastic window.
Simple question to start us off: Have you seen the Star Raiders line at your local US Walmart? I ask because the answers given to that question so far have been nothing but frustrating or confusing. While Walmart has gotten its stock for distribution, they've only used it so far to fulfill online orders. And there's a lot of stock online with both Road Pig and the Thundertron leader set still available for purchase.
That last bit is a rarity as Walmart will sell out of exclusives online, with the bulk of stock going to stores instead. However, these toys have been available and shipping from their website but they have yet to be found in stores... or have they?
With the toys shipping from the Walmart website, fans got excited to find these exclusives in stores. But that lead to frustration since the hunt resulted next to no sightings. What was found was confusing and has lead to some misinformation being spread by other news sites. The few toys from the Star Raiders capsule that were found were never found with casemates, but as single examples, and often times discounted too. Like the sighting below which just so happens to have the 2 products that have finally been shipping from Walmart.com.
It most likely means that these are returns and them being discounted is due to Walmart not having these skus on the planogram (no designated space on the shelf). We tend to see that with older releases which no longer have a designated space on the shelf, but it's the same cause regardless. And that is extra confusing and frustrating since it means that as of right now there is no plan to have these toys on shelves.
That also means that any sighting being shared online is not legitimate as it does not indicate that this line is being distributed to stores. It instead simply means that fans are returning toys they purchased online. So in the end, there is no concrete evidence that this line is being distributed to stores right now. We have no real sighting of this Star Raiders line in US Walmarts so far.
Let us know how your experience has been with this exclusive subline and if you have found it in a decent amount in your area (if you are in the US). Who knows, maybe one of you has a sighting of a non returned item to share.

The next round of collector-centered pre-orders have gone live on Amazon and everywhere else in Japan. Interestingly all of them are being tagged as part of T-SPARK.
The first is the highly anticipated MPG-14 Godbomber who will be available in two different flavors. The first that we had seen previously is the retail version that will be available everywhere. The second is a special Takara Tomy Mall exclusive MPG-14S that includes everything from the retail version plus extra parts to make Godbomber and God Ginrai look like the original prototype, as well as God Ginrai's sword. That set comes in an extra large box that can also store the Super Ginrai box inside similar to the MPG-6S Kaen box that could hold all 6 Trainbots. This set will likely be available on Hasbro Pulse soon.
Next up is Karakuri Statue Optimus Prime, the self transforming statue first revealed at the beginning of the year. Not much has changed in the statue itself, but the base got an overhaul making it more ornate and adding gold for contrast to the middle rotating part.
Finally we've got the Dramatic Capture Triple Takeover set. This set puts new decos on Siege Astrotrain, Legacy Evolution Blitzwing and SS86 Starscream. Starscream includes his coronation gear, but no throne this time. Even more noticeable is Astrotrain's lack of launch pad/tender.
And next up, we have a review for the upcoming release of Bumblebee movie Core Class Starscream! This tiny backstabber was revealed by a mistake listing on Amazon, but later officially revealed in a livestream. Most preorders have him coming in December of this year, though except for exclusives, most figures tend to come earlier than their release dates.
On to the review! While the figure itself is a good idea, it's not as well executed as it could have been, according to Chuck. Se erst he had to say, and check out the review to help you decide whether or not to add this new mold to your collection.
This is a nice representation of Starscream from the Bumblebee movie, but I'm concerned about how long the ball joints can last.
One of the many benefits of the 40th anniversary of the Transformers
brand is that there's bound to be something for just about anyone. For those fans who are Transformers fans as well as Hot Wheels collectors, here's the toy for you!
Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 shows off this new offering in all its die-cast glory. It's starting to pop up at retail in the U.S., so maybe you'll get lucky and find it soon. Take a look below!
How did they not think of this sooner? This Optimus Prime is a nice truck!
With us being a month away from this year’s fourth quarter, the Legacy United wave 4 figures are starting to make some appearances. Notrab got his hands on them and took great photos. Though be aware that their photos are highly saturated. To show how different the colors can look, we also have official images from Takara for the same toys.
Below you will see images of Transformers Legacy united Motormaster, Quake, G1 Optimus Prime, Slipstream and Galvatron.
