Hasbro is going big on the Bumblebee movie Cybertronian designs in 2024. Below you will find a review to the triple changer leader Megatron we'll be getting soon. Also, we now have the first images for the upcoming voyager Shockwave from this same subline. It is basically the same design we got with the core class version but now the size of voyager BBM Soundwave. The alt mode is still not much to look at. These images come from Transmimi over at TFW2005.
Keegan-Michael Key is becoming quite the dominating force in voice acting roles for big animated films. We heard him as Toad in Super Mario Brothers and you can also hear him in Migration. He also voices Bumblebee in Transformers One. However, unlike other voicework where he tends to disguise his voice or sounds different than his usual self, he will not be altering his voice for Bumblebee. In the short clip from Collider below, he states that the director didn't want him to change his voice and to simply sound like himself.
However, we do have to remember that these are robots and thus there may be voice altering or an effect added in post production. He can only speak to his performance and not the finished product.
The Transformers Team over on the Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel decided to have a little fun between BMac, Evan and Mark and do a sort of sports style "toy draft" picking their favorite figures of 2023 without duplicating picks for their "teams". They're picks were broken down by class as well as a wild card pick in no specific order. While mostly just something done for fun it did include quite a bit of banter between the three that has given us some insight into what we might find in the future as well as insight into the design process of figures they chose.
- It doesn't sound like they're working on a blue G2 Grimlock... yet.
- There was a brief, not by name mention of Dino King when talking about Core Scarr
- They actually called Nemesis "dommy mommy"... (Link is at least visually safe for work.)
- They said they have way more female characters than most people know about. Not sure if that meant to pick from or in the works.
- Apparently Takara gave the go ahead for SS86 Rumble and Frenzy to get their cartoon colors matched to their names (RiBFiR) after Siege went the other way (seemingly at Takara's request).
- Mark actually said Ultra Magnus has been under represented leading to the SS86 figure.
- Mark used some of Aaron Archer's original concept art when designing Commander Class Armada Optimus Prime.
- Mark was also the one that got Buzzworthy Tow-Line made.
- They joke about only making 4 SS86 Dinobots. They must hear that alot.
- Lots of gushing over Retro reissue pink Hot Rod and praise for that line in general.
- Mark actually went to a dump and waste management site for inspiration with Trashmaster (who was named by their copy editor).
- Tease more Insecticon repaints (but definitely no more Dinobots).
It's a little telling that while they praised the Studio Series line, most of their picks came from Legacy. Was there anything big that was missed? Let us know in the Seibertron Energon Pub forum!
Any vinyl lovers out there? Well the Transformers Rise of the Beasts soundtrack is coming out on vinyl on December 15th and a bunch of stores have it for preorder. Below is a list of places to preorder it in the US and Canada. It is limited to 500 copies according to the listings. The music is by, who we interviewed. You can check out that interview below of you haven't already.
We're nearing the release of Movie Masterpiece MPM-14 Bonecrusher and we're already getting our first tease of the next MPM. Thanks to the finding of Jtprime17 we're now aware that what we're going go guess is MPM-15, Brawl, is on the horizon! At this point we know next to nothing about the release but it's probably a safe bet that it'll be a Target exclusive in the US and available worldwide through the usual suspects like Amazon Japan.
With this we're basically at the end of of the 2007 movie lineup, the only exclusion being Frenzy. Maybe Hasbro will find a way to fix that someday soon. Hard to say if we'll be seeing Brawl's reveal this year or not but we shouldn't be too far away from it. More as we learn it. Big thanks to EvasionModeBumblebee for posting this in the Energon Pub Forums!
Thanks to ToyBase on Youtube, we have our first transformation video for the upcoming Transformers Movie Masterpiece MPM-14 Bonecrusher! This video gives us some size comparisons in robot mode and in alt mode for Bonecrusher compared to MPM-4 Optimus, as well as a full vehicle to robot conversion sequence.
Bonecrusher appears to have a very intuitive yet straightforward transformation, with some awesome little details such as how his crotch wheels in the inner thighs are formed, and how much of his alt mode goes into his giant claw.
Also briefly shown off are the flame effects from when he smashes through the bus, his alternate claw pieces, and his alternate face from when Prime gives him a solid punch.
Check out the video below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
Christmas shopping season has started at Toysrus. Their stores are stocked to the brim, including the Transformers section. While there is a lot of stock, amount wise, there isn't much variety. It mainly features non Studio Series Rise of the Beasts toys and Cyberverse, which makes sense as they mainly target parents/kids. They also concentrate on their exclusives and their big Transformers deal for the next two weeks combines those two strengths of their: the exclusive mainline Rise of the Beasts 3 pack from the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line.
Below is how various Toysrus stores look like at the moment. You'll notice that they did get the wave 4 Legacy deluxes, but in a small amount, compared to the rest. They are also up to date on the Cyberverse line, with the latest Arcee/Hashtag finger puppets and the warrior Megatron wave.
In other sightings news, the final wave of 2023's Studio Series line is being found in Canada. Leader Primal and the deluxe wave with Mirage and Nightbird has been found at Gamestop.
Transformers Studio Series 102 Optimus Prime is selling for double on e-bay due to Target not stocking him enough on shelves and online. This gave the Takara release more attention than they usually get since Takara's release is non exclusive. However it seems fans were not aware that the toy's preorders have gone up. Not only have they gone up, but they are also selling out very quickly. HLJ is a popular seller, has been for decades, and Prime is sold out there. Amazon Japan has preorders available to various fans around the world but not for Americans.
This is pretty big news on its own, since it seems Amazon Japan is reverting to its stance from years ago about disabling some foreign customers from ordering toys off their site. Right now it seems people in Europe and Australia can order SS 122 Optimus Prime (that's the code number for their release of ROTB Prime) but Americans see it as "not available" and the same can be said for MP Rhinox.
Back to Optimus Prime, if you do want to order it, the Japanese retailer Amiami still accepts preorders, and the toy is only $28 USD before shipping. Here is the link: https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?scod ... 0510&rank=
That link above is one of your last chances to get this toy at a reasonable price, and once it sells out all that will be left is him on e-bay for $80-$100
JTPrime recently uncovered multiple “bundles” for figures in Studio Series and Legacy! Here’s the Studio Series ones:
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF6 BUNDLE 1
Product Number: D3411
TRA GEN STUDIO DLX 86 AND TF6 BUNDLE 1
Product Number: D3412
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX 86 BUNDLE
Product Number: D3413
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF2 BUNDLE
Product Number: D3414
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF6 BUNDLE 2
Product Number: D3415
TRA GEN STUDIO DLX 86 AND TF6 BUNDLE 2
Product Number: D3416
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF5 BUNDLE
Product Number: D3417
These items are apparently meant for Walmart, and we have info on one of the packs (the TF2 one)
So it looks like Deluxe 2-packs! If I had to guess, the TLK one is likely the WWII Autobots
We have many new images for the new Transformers Studio Series reveals. Below you will see official images of deluxe ROTB Wheeljack, deluxe ROTB Scorponok, and leader Bumblebee Movie Concept Megatron. There are also images from a behind the scenes look at voyager Gamerverse WFC Starscream and leader Megatron. The Starscream one is puzzling as it shows Hasbro had a very clear idea of what the toy was supposed to look like and somehow deviated wildly in the chest area.
The commentaries on each is below all the images.
“SS-109 Bumblebee Movie Concept Megatron
I am ecstatic to finally be able to share our Leader Scale Concept Megatron. We officially came across this oddity while sifting through the CAD files from the Bumblebee movie, and discovered a wonderful unused design for Megatron. Originally the story was going utilize Megatron being frozen in ice, to help bridge the continuity gap to the Bayverse films, but the scene was eventually dropped, and this design disappeared. Luckily for us, we thawed it out and I was thrilled to be part of the team to help bring this figure to life.
We got to work on a vehicle design for Megatron. Like the majority of the BB Cybertronian alt modes, we wanted to utilize details that were present on the bot form, but still prioritize maintaining the look that they had on screen without sacrificing them for fantasy alt modes. This strategy has had some mixed success, but each new figure feels like a welcome addition to the line. Knowing that theatrical Megatron arrived on earth as a cybetronian jet, and later a tank in the first two Bayverse films, I was split between what alt form was most appropriate, but aiming for a tripleformer seemed most appropriate. I enlisted @santalux75 to conceptualize some vehicle looks for each of the modes, which we were able to take inspiration from for the final design.
I was able to partner with Yuya Onishi at Takara, who worked his magic to deliver a truly uncompromised robot mode from what ever direction you look at it. The articulation for this figure is unmatched by any other Transformer that I’ve had the opportunity to work on you can see the love that went into making this definitive version of Megatron.
Megatron’s fusion cannon can be folded and stowed on the figures back, and can be positioned in a couple of different orientations between the two vehicle modes. The figure is packed full of a heritage deco scheme that was pulled directly from the concept art.”
“Hi Transformer fans!
I hope you all have been enjoying the Studio Series 2024 wave 1 reveals over at MCM London with @bmacatron84!
Next up for our Gamer Edition line is the WFC Starscream.
The figure comes courtesy of the marvelous Tomo san over at Takara Tomy.
Starscream comes equipped with his Null Ray and Energon mace, which were his starting load out on his levels. We’ve heard you all loud and clear and are making sure that all the WFC weapons going forward will also have a standard 5mm post so they can be held traditionally as well as being swapped on the arm.
I happen to have the older DLX TT figure for comparison and wanted to make sure everyone could see how we worked from the Game CAD.
Obviously, we enlarged the jet canopy slightly as that’s where the robot head and nose cone get stored during conversion.
He’s a very fun figure to play around with and I hope you all enjoy him as well!
Last thing to note is that his collar pieces are consumer assembled, so they come in the accessory tissue pouch. Just bringing it up so hopefully there isn’t any confusion when you open the box!
Hope you all have a great weekend~
-Evan”
