Shadow striker is an
interesting figure, to say the least. Cyberverse getting represented in legacy seemed way too good to be true. And yeah, it was. After the G2 Colors Drag Strip came out, dubbed "Shadow Strip" I assumed it was just a misunderstood naming circumstance as how everyone assumed there would be a voyager prime soundwave in legacy because of a "PR" prefix
But I was the only one with this opinion, and big surprise, I was wrong.
Checking the latest TF news one morning, I was instantly hooked on the headline- LEGACY SHADOW STRIKER! Yes! Wait.... what?
After a few seconds, I recognized the truth. This is NOT Cyberverse Shadow Striker. This is LEGACY Shadow Striker. It's a Frankenstein redesign. I can get behind that, but it's not cyberverse!
Upon 5 seconds of examination:
-Base body based on the original exclusive repaint of side burn
-Head based on Cyberverse
- Alt mode Cyberverse accurate, save the grill slapped on from the exclusive
The articulation is a little weird with the way you have to position the shoulders due to where they are attached in transformation, but it works. I've seen pictures of mounting the canopy shield on the back via the port, but that is just a trash option. It either sticks to far from the back awkwardly or sits to one side if you collapse it. I'm scared of the hinge breaking, it already stressed and the friction pin shaves every time it falls off. The back bumper shield is a mandatory parts form. It can combine with the gun to form a neat little axe. The coat tails or whatever they're called can be positioned up. There's a little port on one of them to store the gun. Transformation has a few satisfying (for me) play doughy feeling when the legs click in in robot mode or the doors click in in alt mode. This transformation is pretty interesting, for sure. Makes a hilarious gerwalk mode. I like the alt mode. The clear window actually looks cool for once, but it might break
Overall, pretty cool figure, just worried about the longevity of the canopy. And a little ugh about Hasbro's naming tactics. I'm sure prime fans would love bulkhead's figure more if he wasn't called "prime" bulkhead, and they just admitted him as a redesign
That was a long post
sorry...
