I've had a really rough time over the last few weeks and it led to a sort of epiphany when it comes to collecting: I'm tapping out. I got into collecting through two really enthusiastic friends who love TF's and money willing, would likely own every figure (G1 & beyond). It got me out of a bad headspace at the time and I even got some figures I truly yearned for as a kid EG (the modern) G1 Scorponok as well as the complete Cybershark and Wolfang sets. Masterpiece Beast Wars, similarly in their show model accuracy, were all I wanted them to be.
Adding in a few more lines: Bucky O' Hare, Toxic Crusaders, TMNT, DoTE and Mortal Kombat. My collection grew and fast! In the latter part of June I was really unwell and all around me, all I could see? Clutter. Boxes, unopened, stacked on top of each other. When you reach that point in collecting, I think it's time to stop. So instead of the immediate reaction I had (during said illness): bin everything. I instead decided to sell. Not all of it. But the stuff that takes up the most room. The Transformers: City Bots and Masterpieces (yes Rhinox will be my last). My two friends agreed to take them off my hands. Barring Scorponok, which both already own and I don't mind keeping my favourite one from childhood.
They will look after them.
Bucky O' Hare. Since the unpleasantness with BFS. I haven't even looked at them. They will go to a local kids-based charity shop.
MK, stays with me. It helps the line is technically on hiatus at the moment.
As does DoTE.
Random ones like my two Super7 Toxie's, Neca King Kong variants and Gatchaman I am unsure of.
TMNT.. That's a big question mark right now.
The smaller TF figures (displayed on the City Bots) go back into storage, alongside my other 80's-90's figures from childhood.
In a few weeks, when all these things disappear. We'll see how I feel. Certainly regret-free, to be honest.
